Sungro Seeds believes in continuous improvement and cater to the needs of the farmer in this changing consumer preference and environment. Therefore, the company has developed a strong research base with a focus to breed for the improvement of crops handled by it.
It is through this team that it was possible for us to develop the first indigenously breed Cabbage, tropical Radish and Asiatic type Carrot hybrid.

RESEARCH FACILITY AT SUNGRO

INFRASTRUCTURE
The company has a well developed infrastructure such as breeding farms, office building, Climate controlled green houses, vernalization chambers, polyhouses, laboratory etc. We have research centers backed up by manpower and modernized facilities in all important agro climatic zones throughout the country for breeding and testing purposes

MANPOWER
We have qualified experienced personnel in R&D in the area of vegetable breeding. Our R&D staffs have excellent exposure to modern day research and has undergone various training programmes and participated in various International and National Symposia/Meetings/Conferences in India and abroad.

ACHIEVEMENTS
We have released a number of superior hybrids through our R&D which are doing well in different regions of the country. Some of our hybrids have been tested and reported by Project Directorate of Vegetable Research, Varanasi through All India Coordinated vegetable improvement programme at different locations nationwide and has been reported by them to be desirable among the popular hybrids in the market.

Based on our performance and the facilities available Sungro Seeds has been recognized by Department of Science and Technology (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India as an In house R&D unit.

R & D PROJECT PLAN

Research mandate includes development of new hybrids with a focus on value added characteristics like insect resistance, multiple disease resistance, heat/cold, drought resistance, better Shelf life/ transportability & nutritional value etc. in the crops like cauliflower, eggplant, hot pepper, Okra, cabbage, carrot, tomato, radish and all cucurbits. There is also a niche in our breeding programme for export purpose.

Use of modern technology is the call of the day for precision breeding. To quickly address the need of the farmers techniques in molecular breeding, double haploidy etc are used.

The company is also engaged in developing transgenic hybrids containing Bt gene in various crops for various biotic and abiotic stresses.

The breeding group has also developed hybrids in cauliflower & cabbage which are otherwise imported. Thus our country can save valuable foreign exchange revenue because of this.

Our focus on research remains on the following heads

1. CROP IMPROVEMENT

With special emphasis on:

A. GENETIC RESOURCES
B. BREEDING
C. BIO-TECHNOLOGY
D. CROP PROTECTION

2.EXTENSION

3.HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
